SpaceX has said no to three military launch contracts offered by the US Space Force. This comes as the company also faced a NASA safety panel’s assessment that Starship may need up to 22 refuelings for a lunar landing. Meanwhile, Spain’s Miura 5 rocket is nearing final integration for its first launch in mid-2027. Reaction Dynamics, another Canadian launch startup, is also seeking $350 million to expand its workforce and develop new rockets.
The US Space Force had offered SpaceX three military launch contracts, but the company turned them down. NASA’s safety panel indicated that Starship could require as many as 22 refuelings to support a lunar landing. PLD Space’s Miura 5 rocket is nearly ready for its first flight, with one second stage fully integrated for testing. Reaction Dynamics is also expanding, aiming to build a small-lift rocket for 2028 and a medium-lift rocket for 2031.
